Volunteer Job(s) and Description

Academic Mentors, Mentors, Mental Health, Connections, Income Tax E-filers

Academic Mentors: One-on-one strategic tutoring with elementary/high school student; helping student gain academic independence


After-school Homework Programs, building a rapport and working one-on-one with a student within an after school group homework program
Mentors: Providing friendship and being a role model for an at risk youth.

Mental Health: One-on-one friendly visiting, shopping outings, driving to medical appointments etc.

Connections: Diverse opportunities such as helping organize an overwhelmed parent, helping an overwhelmed parent with their child/children, providing reading/play stimulation to a young child etc.

Volunteer Requirements (language, special skills, etc.)

French, English and/or math skills are an asset for academic mentoring and after school homework programs.


Warmth, acceptance and relationship building skills are key for mentors and mental health and Connections’ volunteers.

Time Commitment

Academic mentors: minimum 1 hour per week, duration of the school year.


Homework Programs: 5:30p.m. – 7:00 p.m 2x a week.
Mentors: Several hours on the weekend every 2nd week for a minimum of 1 year

Mental Health:.minimum 1 hour per week

Connections: minimum 1 hour per week
