Organization Objective

To find volunteer Mentors for those children who need someone (a positive role model or just a friend) in their lives.

Volunteer Job(s) and Description

There are 3 different programs:

  1. Traditional program: Becoming a Big Brother/Sister to one child. Participate with child in fun activities.
  2. In-school mentoring: One-on-One with child. Activities on school property.
  3. Go Girls!/Game On! Programs: One just for girls, one just for boys of ages 12-14. A couple of volunteers go to a school to teach a group of kids about physical activity, good eating habits and self-esteem.
Volunteer Requirements (language, special skills, etc.)

Must have a love of children, must be a responsible, patient person. Must love to play!

Time Commitment

Traditional program: a 1 year minimum commitment, once every week or every 2 weeks, get together with child (arrange schedule with child/family)

In-school mentoring: 1 hr/week for the school year (same time every week)

Go Girls!/Game On!: 1 hr/week for an 8-week session (same time every week)

Application Process

Call phone number or e-mail website to give basic info. You will get called back to arrange a meeting/interview with a case worker to fill out application forms and police check form.
