Organization Objective

The Jewish Eldercare Centre is a long-term care facility that provides comprehensive and compassionate care to the members of the community living with a loss of their physical or cognitive autonomy. We are home to 320 residents. 

Our mission is to provide the highest possible quality of care and quality of life in a safe and secure homelike environment and according to Jewish tradition and principles.

Volunteer Job(s) and Description

Volunteers are involved in many ways, including: friendly visits, recreational activities, music activities, physiotherapy clinic, dental clinic, occupational therapy projects, nursing and infection control, eating assistance program, religious services,outings and BBQs in the summer months, and more…

Volunteer Requirements (language, special skills, etc.)

Most of our residents speak English; other languages are an asset but not required. 

Volunteers must be kind, patient, compassionate, willing to have fun with seniors, and to interact with people living with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. 

No previous experience is required; training is provided.

Time Commitment

The average volunteer is at the Centre for about 2 hours per week. We ask for a commitment of 3 months.
