Volunteer Job(s) and Description

Children’s Respite Program
The objective of the Children’s Respite Program is to provide respite services for parents of chronically ill children under school age who are physically and/or intellectually handicapped. The
primary goal is to provide these families with psychosocial support through health professionals and volunteers. Volunteers are asked to visit the family’s home for 2-3 hours a week. During this time, volunteers will stimulate child through play. Your time as a volunteer will be greatly appreciated by the family.
Volunteer Foot Clinic Aide
Under the supervision of the clinic manager will assume duties related to assisting the nurse in providing foot care. Responsibilities include:

  • setting up and dismantling the clinic
  • prepare instrument tray
  • clean and sterilize used instruments
  • to prepare clients for treatment
  • assist nurse as directed
Volunteer Requirements (language, special skills, etc.)

Children Respite Program:

  • experience with children is an asset
  • ability to communicate and work well with others
  • sense of humor and imagination
  • consistent availability

Volunteer Foot Clinic Aide:

  • ability to communicate and work well with people
  • previous nursing or nursing-related experience an asset
  • consistent availability
Time Commitment

Children’s Respite Volunteer : 3 hours a week
Volunteer Foot Clinic Aide: 4 hours a week
